Note:  Vaginismus throughout this document is commonly referred to as Vag.

Vaginismus is a disorder of the pelvic floor muscles surrounding the vaginal canal. What occurs is the muscles spasm, making vaginal penetration extremely painful and in most cases virtually impossible. There is much controversy on why vaginismus occurs; the debate is whether Vaginismus is brought on by physiological or psychological disorders.
It is my opinion in speaking with over 350 women that Vaginismus can initially be brought on by either the physical or psychological aspects. However, regardless of which came first Vaginismus causes problems in both areas for every women that I have spoken.
